Wanda’s Journal

Offering of Prayers

In my novel, The Robin’s Greeting, many scriptures were included in the story that helped the characters deal with feelings they struggled with. God’s Word also helped the King family deal with several unpleasant things that had been done to them.

In addition to studying God’s Word, praying faithfully and fervently, helped Belinda and other members of her family get through several trials.

Reading passages from the Bible and offering prayers to God can also help us as we are faced with various situations and unexpected trials. Are there any special verses found in the Bible that have helped you recently? Do you have a special prayer request you would like to share? I, and I’m sure others who read this post, would like to pray for you.

“The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous avails much.” James 5:16

  8. I believe in prayer in good times and bad times. I think we often have prayer request for help and for things and actions we want, but fail to give God thanks for all his blessings.

  9. You have no idea how many times I have prayed to God and then read one of your books either that day or a little later, and there was a verse that pertained to what I had prayed about. Instant peace came over me. I always thank God for speaking to me through your books. My husband has been severely ill for the past two years, he had another year at most to live. With God amd the power of prayer, I would not have been able to get through this. Please keep adding scriptures to your books!

  10. I love when someone mentions a Scripture Verse, it causes me to look it up so I can learn about the Verses before and After it.. I am still learning… Love Reading your Books about the Amish Families and their Faith. My go to Scriptures are Psalm 23 and Psalm 100.

  11. Scripture and prayer get me through the busy days, couldn’t do it with out God. I love the option to read good christian fiction and learn along the way about the Amish. Thank you for writitng great novels.

  12. My favorite aunt lives 1100+ miles away from me. She recently lost her husband to a combination of Covid and alzheimers. She mentioned she picked up a copy of one of your books and I told her that I love reading your books also. She reads in hard copy while I read on my kindle. We have been reading a multitude of your books over the past month (some I’m re-reading) and it gives us something to look forward to talking about (something brighter than death).

While I keep you in prayer, would you please keep Mary in your prayers. These books have been very uplifting to my aunt during a time when she can’t get that hug from me that so I desperately want to give to her.

      1. My aunt just texted me asking what I knew of a cookbook from you! Thank you for ministering to my aunt through your simple act of kindness! (Now, hopefully she will share the recipes with me!)

  13. Have loved your books for many years now. Yours were the first Amish type books that I read and got hooked on. I don’t often post here but just wanted you to know what a blessing you are to many many people. Keep up the great work!

  21. I’ve shared your books with my Mother and she enjoys reading them. The stories allow her to “travel and meet others” while she lives in assisted living and is unable to venture out and about as she had before. I pray that God continues to speak to her heart through your sharing. Thank you.

  22. I am a big fan of Wanda’s always saying my FIRST Amish books I read were her trilogy of Amish Sisters in Ohio….My prayer request, most pressing, should I put it? is my grand daughter…who my husband and I helped RAISE from literally BIRTH to 18 years….she has been “an adult” since she blew out her Sweet 16 candles….always wanting to Go…Run…well (leave out the LONG story) she was 18 end of Nov last year but got her driv lisc first of March and took off…in a near by town but we dont know exactly where and 44 days left of HS and is not going to graduate….our hearts break for so many reasons, and our daughter too….we fear for her safety and “all”….I usually dont share…dont tell as we were brought up “dont talk/dont tell….” but Prayers are so needed and when God’s people share with others who have a heart for the hurting and need it themselves … well thanks for listening….and Wanda’s book she is offering the cookbook would be a great addition to my bookshelf…Good luck to all entering and God bless you all too…Hugs!

  23. I want to thank you for sharing your gift of story telling with the world! Your words of wisdom came to me at the needed time. Upon starting “ The Robin’s Greeting”, I read the quote on the dedication page which I immediately sent to my son who transferred to another state for his job. He is struggling with the newness of it all along with trying to find a place to call home. The quote gave him the encouragement and reminder of the power of prayer and his beliefs.
I have always loved visiting Amish country in Ohio- Sugar Creek, Walnut Creek, Berlin, etc. One day I hope to move there fir the peaceful way of life. In the meantime I will continue read your books to feed my soul. You remind us they are people too with struggles like any of us.

  38. Before reading the Robin’s Greeting I reread the first two books so that I could refresh myself with all the details. I was very surprised at who was doing the vandalism. Often as I read your books I am helped through situations I am dealing with by identifying with different characters in the story. Proverbs 3:5-6 have always helped me to stay on track or get back on track in my Christian life.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

  39. There are a couple of verses that have encouraged my heart during this difficult season for our nation and globally.. One of the many good things that has happened is that I have been challenged to evaluate my life and found out that #1. The gospel of Jesus Christ is of most importance: Mark 16:15-16: And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. #2. I want to be faithful. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
I am praying that each of my grandchildren will know Jesus and desire to serve Him whole heartedly.

  40. I received an answer to prayer this morning. Polyp removed on Tuesday was benign. Thank you Lord.

  41. I have almost every book you’ve written. I’ve moved into my Fifth Wheel full time and had to downsize. But I kept all of your books. My go-to passage is Phil 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.” THANK YOU for many years of inspiration and love in your stories. God Bless

  45. With these trying times I have found that I have been praying more than usual. Praying for my son and daughter – in -law who contracted covid while 7 months pregnant. All of our grandbaby’s test have come out that he’s healthy but the doctor’s say that only the future will tell with this crazy virus. I am humbled by all the prayers our family has received. At this time in the Lenten season, I appreciate so much the verse of Is. 53:5: He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Thank you, Jesus!

  49. Thank you for inspiring us through Christian writings of the Amish life that there are trials that are overcome through our relationship with God and the help and support of those that love Him.

We are trying to return after being out for a year because of the pandemic, but it’s going to take a lot of money to do all the things needed such as a thorough cleaning, PPE, touchless hand sanitizers, etc. I appreciate the prayers.

  57. I love your books. They bring peace to the rough days we are having in this world. I would rather pick up a book than turn on the tv. Peaceful and tranquillity is what I get from you my dear friend.

  58. Praying is my daily life. I couldn’t get through a single day without praying to The Lord. Knowing He hears me and cares for me is what gives me peace. Knowing that God is there to listen if I’m giving Him praise or if I’m making a request fills me with hope. The Lord is my strength!!

  59. I just started reading the Robin’s Greeting. The other two books in this series were really good. And this one does not disappoint. The beginning of the week I finished Sisters of Holmes County. This was also an excellent book. It had me guessing.

  67. I recently broke my right wrist and am right-handed. It was a big adjustment having to depend on my husband to help with many of the basic needs. I am able to use it now after having surgery to put in a plate and 6 screws. Working to strengthen the wrist is still a challenge, but God has been helping me. I was able to play the piano a few weeks afterwards but it was painful. One of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Another one that goes along with ministry, and when I am feeling discouraged, is I Corinthians 15:58 ” Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

My dad almost died from Covid in February but praise our God He miraculously healed him! Even the drs said he is a miracle. I know our prayers aren’t always answered in the way we want them to be, but I’m thankful He heard the prayers of people coast to coast and took this horrible virus from my dad. We all need the peace that passeth all understanding in this difficult time in our world. We must all remember God is still with us and He’s still working. 1. Wanda, thank you for including Bible passages and shirt prayers in your books. No only do both help the characters, but all offer comfort to your readers. A current favorite verse that has been on my mind lately has been Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Please keep my family in your prayers. We just lost my mother-in-law a week ago to pancreatic cancer last week. Even though we are comforted by the thought that she is in Heaven now because she was a believer we are still feeling the grief of our loss. Sitting by her side and watching her slowly die of cancer was a painful experience for us. We could certainly use all the prayers we can get. Have a blessed Easter!

  100. Prov. 3:5-6 have always been favorite verses for me. But I also use a concordance to look up specific words that address a particular need…for instance “peace” or “comfort”.

  101. I have recently started a job working in the shelter at the Salvation Army. I have realized (by dealing with the residents), just how truly blessed I have been. Please pray for the people that are put in my path, that I may in some way be a blessing to them. Thank you!

  102. I am a senior citizen and this past year I have had a lot of time to catch up on my reading. I really do enjoy your books. Through reading your books I have also had a hunger to read my Bible more and really improve my prayer life. Something good has come to my life through this pandemic. Thanks so much!

  103. Romans 8:28 is a wonderful promise. Please pray that the growth in my ear does not increase in size and that it will not reach my brain and pray for victory in my employment case. Thanks.

  104. I really enjoy reading your books, they help to lift my spirits. My prayer request is that the world will be able to heal from all the things that are happening right now and life can be easier for everyone.

  105. I have always found some peace from the 23rd Psalm. I seem to recall my mother telling me it was her grandmother’s favorite, and that’s why I memorized it so many years ago. My prayer request is for my mother, Zenova. She took the antibiotic Levaquin about six years ago and it gave her a bad reaction; she is 83 now and still having some side effects. I know she would appreciate it.

  106. Hi Wanda I love reading your books along with alot of other amish books.and I really liked what you said in your journal entry. And my favorite is Psalm 69 and the security prayer also ,I always say the security prayer when I am going through something and it helps me out alot ,along with psalms 69.And right now I really just ask for prayers to know that God is there and that I realize that he is working in my life alog with everyone else. Thank you and God bless everyone and I will keep everyone in my prayers and God bless again.

    1. I’ll pray for you, Elizabeth, to know that God is there with you, and for you to know with assurance, blessed assurance, that He IS working in your life.
      Romans 8:28
      King James Version
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

  107. Not only do your books provide peaceful entertainment, they provide inspiration, sometimes even when I don’t realize I need it at that time. Thank you for your wonderful stories that are truly blessings.

  108. I love your books, they are a great inspiration to me. Reading about the simple life of the Amish is one of my favorite past times. One day I hope to go back to visit the Amish land.

  109. Prayers for Zoie. We must always remember that we must rely on God’s timing and not ours. I do have a prayer request. My daughter graduates in a few weeks in Education. She is hoping to secure an Art Education job in a High School in Akron/Canton Ohio area. This is when i need to take my own advice and wait patiently on God, rather than “trying to help him out”. Prayers she will find something.

  110. Wanda, I will never forget the very first book I read of yours, it was simply amazing and I have been hook, lined, and sinkered on your novels. I love love love them. 112. How is your husband able to photograph and sell greeting cards and pictures, when the Amish do not want anybody to take their picture?

    1. Most Amish we know have no problem with photos being taken of their horses, buggies, homes, farms, and even their children who have not joined the church. They don’t object to photos that are not directly in their face, either, and my husband always respects their wishes if any do object.

  113. my mom and i are raising my son who is 35. he is autistic spectrum, bipolar and has ptsd because of experiences he had in the school system. Please pray for my friend, Kim, her mother Linda has terminal cancer in her intestines and elsewhere. Pray for them both, Kim needs Jesus in her heart, and Linda needs peace of mind. Pray for me, too, that I will know the right thing to do and say when the end comes for her mother. Kim was there for me when my older brother died.
