Thankful Thoughts
As Thanksgiving approaches, I am reminded of the importance of being thankful. The trials we face on our earthly journey can sometimes tear us down, make us feel depressed, and cause negative thinking. Ephesians 5:20 reminds us to give thanks in all things unto God. While we may not feel thankful for the trials we face, we can offer thanks for the knowledge that God is always with us, helping us, and guiding us every day. He hears our prayers and understands our pain.
Negative thinking tears a person down, but giving praise, honor and thanks to the Lord lifts our spirits. Despite any unpleasant situations we may face, there is always something to be thankful for.
Today, as I sit at my computer, looking out my office window, I am thankful for the much-needed rain we have received this week. I’m also thankful for my family, whom I love so dearly. Most of all, I’m thankful that God loves me and always hears my prayers. What are you thankful for today?
I am thankful for my wonderful brothers who help me out so much being as I am a widow.
Whenever I have a yard or house or pet problem they come to my rescue.
That after 46 years my husband and I still have each other.
Having all my family living close by. And good friends, as well.
I am thankful that I can get up each morning and spend my day with God, Thankful for my home, clothes to keep me warm and for food on my table
I am very thankful for my financial security. I am far from rich but I always manage to have everything that I need.
I’m thankful for my kids and my Grandson. I’m thankful for my Mom and her being healthy at her age. My Dad passed 2 1/2 yrs ago and I can’t stand the thought of losing her too.
This time of the year is always hard on me. I love fall with the colors, football games and harvesting, but also remember those I have lost and the wonderful memories of growing up with my grandfather and doing chores with him. I am thankful that my grandfather instilled his love of God in me and always made sure I was a Sunday School each Sunday.
I’m thankful for my family – everyone is healthy and doing really well for life!
I am so thankful for a wonderful husband of fifty years. We have been through many trials in our lifetime. But, God has been faithful and is always there for us. All we have to do is whisper His Name and he hears us. Actually, we don’t even have to whisper, just think His Name. I am so thankful for a warm home, a safe comfortable place to sleep, and food to eat. We are so blessed. I am thankful for Christian authors like you and the wonderful stories you write. God bless you.
It’s so important to be thankful IN all circumstances. No matter what is happening in our lives there are always those that have it worse off. I’m thankful that God gives second chances. Even 3rf and 4th chances. He never gives up on us!!
I am thankful for the wonderful weather we are having and my family.
I am thankful for my family and friends, they are so dear to me..Especially my son William..He is my caregiver since I am disabled..I have been through a lot of hard times and trials and I am happy that he is here with me to comfort me and take care of me..I am also thankful that we have a roof over our heads and a safe and comfortable beds to sleep in..And that we have food to eat..And I am thankful for a great Christian author like you and the beautiful and wonderful stories that you write..May God bless you and your family.
I am thankful for my family & friends.
I am thankful for my family, my husband and son, but especially my parents. I’ve been thinking lately about how blessed I am to have them still because right now one of my very good friends is losing her mom to cancer. Just this last week her doctor determined that the chemo didn’t do what he hoped it would and so they’ve sent her home with hospice. My heart goes out to her during this sad time in her life and at the same time makes me so thankful that my mom and dad are still with me. I will be visiting them today.
I am most thankful for my family, especially having my Mom and my Aunt with me. Its been hard since my Dad passed away but with such a strong person as my Mom, its been a lot easier to deal with. I am also so grateful to have a wonderful group of friends who support me and love me for just being me.
I am thankful for my sister, my church family and just the fact that I can get up and down by myself after a short time when I couldn’t because I broke my shoulder. My sister helped me out so much as well as my church family!! Love them all!
It’s interesting that you are thankful for the rain this week. The NASCAR Sprint Cup race is in my hometown today. I’m sure there are a lot of people today at the track who are not very thankful. Actually, race fans should be used to it. You can often hear people in Martinsville comment when it’s dry that we should get rain soon because there’s a race coming up. I can remember many rainy race weekends here. Personally I’m thankful that I live within sight of my home church so I can get to church on race weekends without interference from the race traffic. This fall I am especially grateful because we just celebrated my mother’s 90th birthday yesterday. She looks a lot younger than that.
Whenever I’m going through a rough time I always try to stop
as I’m journaling and start writing down what I’m grateful for
it takes my focus of the negative and puts it on my blessings number
one is the salvation that Jesus is provided for me. I am so grateful for
his redeeming grace in my life! Be blessed my friend! In His Love I
Wish you a happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
I am thankful for the time I get to spend time with my family and friends. They are always there when you need their help and prayers.
My husband died on Thanksgiving day several years ago and I still miss him. However, I give thanks for the time we had together.
I am thankful that I have a church family besides my own family ,they were so good to me when my husband of 59 years died last January. They are all a true blessing.
I am thankful for my husband and family. I also praise God for my church family and above all I thank God for our savior, Jesus Christ.
I am very thankful for my husband. Since I am in a wheelchair he goes above and beyond in helping me. I thank God for his love and devotion every day. He is the love of my life.
We have much to be thankful for. Thanks for the reminder to always look for those things. My husband and two beautiful adult daughters are what I’m most thankful for.
I am so Thankful First off for The Lord letting me see another beautiful day! Thankful for all my family and friends! I lost my husband 7 years ago and it is hard being a widower on holidays but I will get to see him again someday in Heaven! Hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Nearly all of my family live far away. It is sometimes difficult to see them due to the distance. We relocated to the Heartland in the middle of the country and I am thankful for our church family and friends. We’ve only been in this church for 2 1/2 years and so many have helped us greatly. They have shown us true Christian love and caring. How can we not be thankful!
I am thankful for every day that God has given to me to spend with my family and friends. Glory be to God.
I am thankful for God giving me a friend in whom I love dearly, in so much as I call her my sister. We met in high school and have kept in touch for 44 years and our friendship is still growing strong. I thank God for her every day. 🙂
I am thankful for the LORD saving my soul, and the LOVE he has for us. I am also thankful for my family and friends. Thankful for my church family. The LORD has done so much for us all how can someone not be thankful.
I grew up in a farm family, not really attending church on a regular schedule so I am so thankful for God putting my husband in my life and allowed me to know God. I’m so thankful for my family and also never forgetting the family members who are not with us anymore. I so enjoy the books you have published because they make me feel as if I’m living right there with them.
It is November! Let’s be Thankful! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!!
I often think of Corrie Ten Boom’s ability to be thankful for lice while in a concentration camp. Because of the lice the guards did not enter thier barracks and they could worship God. I have so much for which to to be thankful .
I am thankful that GOD always provides what I need and not always what I want.
Thankful for all the many opportunities and freedom that we have! Let’s remember to thank our Veteran’s this Veteran’s Day (and every day) for their sacrifices for all of us! God has Blessed us abundantly!
I am thankful that I am able to worship my Lord and Savior in the church of my choosing unlike others in various countries. I am thankful for my parents, grandparents and my aunt who led me to Christ at an early age, my 4 wonderful children and 6 grandchildren and my church family.
I am thankful for my family. Blessed with three wonderful children, 8 grand children and 2 great grandsons!
Today I am thankful for family. We went to a memorial service for my father-in-law, who passed away in April. I thought it would just be me, my husband and my mother-in-law. When we got there I was delighted to see my two step children, my brother and sister-in-law and two nieces. They rallied to support us in our grieving.
God went to the cross for me that I could have everlasting life. I am so thankful for being able to go to church, worship my savior, Jesus Christ, to openingly gather together and receive encouragement from my church family. I’m thankful for my family, my mom who is 88 yrs old this thanksgiving, my two sons and daughter. He gives me such beautiful sunsets and shows me how much He love me in the little things of life, how can you not Praise Him?
I am thankful for Jesus, dying to save me from my sins.
I am also thankful I have my husband with me. Two years ago today, he was run over by a pickup truck here in our yard. He had to be med-flighted out to another state to the hospital. He came home with me the next day, but was battered and bruised so badly. He developed a severe leg wound, but that was healed. He still has some minor problems due to the accident, but God took care of him, and tonight as I write this, he sits with me in thankfulness.
We also had our only child, my son, married in March, and are now expecting our first grand baby this coming March.
God has always been so good to me
I am not worthy of His love, but He gives it to me freely.
I am grateful. I am blessed!
I have so much to be thankful for. Having just visited my mother; I am thankful for my loving family.
I am grateful that my family will be together this thanksgiving. I am looking forward to it ever so much. I am thankful for my church family and mindful of the persecuted around the world especially religious persecution. I am thankful for freedom.
First of all I am most thankful for the Lord saving my soul! If it wasn’t for him, we would not be Heaven bound…and for that I love him!! There is so much to be thankful for and I can not memtion it all. I do want to mention that I am thankful for my wonderful & healthy family, not just today but every day. I am thankful for my church family, neighbors, this wonderful morning that is about to begin and just letting me wake up to enjoy all of these things. AMEN!!
I am so thankful for the love of my husband and my family and God. I couldn’t imagine my life without either of the special amazing people in my life. My husband is the most godly, loving man I’ve ever met. My parents have had some health issues the past couple years and I’m so grateful they’re on their way to recovery. I am always thankful for god and to always know no matter what I have his love and I’m his child. I hope you have a happy thanksgiving Wanda.
I am thankful that I have a relationship with God. How can people make tit through life without him? I am thankful that God gave the ultimate sacrifice and sent his son to die on the cross for our sins. I am thankful that my family is back together. I am thankful for a roof over my head. I am thankful for this SURPRISE baby I am going to have in June. Pray for me, I am 43 years old. I am thankful for the parents that raised me and took me to church.
Im thankful for family and friends and good health. Since we just moved this year to the Georgia mountains from South Florida, we so enjoyed the summer GREEN, peaceful quiet landscape, and now that we are in the Fall, we so love the beautiful colors of the leaves, apples, pumpkins, haystacks and many Craft Festivals. My husband and I are as he says, reconnecting after many years of raising our children and helping them raise theirs. So Im thankful for this opportunity to enjoy God’s rich blessings and beauty.
I am thankful for the students I have the privilege of working with each day. Kids today go through so much that we can’t even imagine and I am glad I am here to help and support in anyway I can.
I am thankful for all of God’s blessings, a loving husband, a wonderful family, a good home, and good friends to name a few. My husband is a pastor, and I am truly thankful for the ministry God has entrusted us with over the years. Most of all, I am thankful for Jesus Christ, who freely gave His life that, in believing in Him, I have real life now and for eternity. Wishing you and your family a most blessed Thanksgiving!
I’m thankful for Christian parents. Mother, 91, has stage 4 stomach cancer which has spread and is in hospice. Previously when Mother had enough strength, she sent thank you notes to those who sent her flowers, cards, food, etc. Now she is too ill to send thank you notes and asked how she can thank people for current gifts. My sister and I informed her that we would thank people for her.
I am thankful first of all for Jesus Christ who died to forgive us for our sins. I always have what I need in life. I am thankful for my husband and the love he gives me everyday. I am thankful for authors like Beverly Lewis who I read often and transforms me to a slower pace in life.
I am thankful for having a family that cares about each other and will help each other out. I am blessed to have wonderful friends that truly care about me.
During this month of nov my husband and i daily tell each other when we take the dogs out for the last time what our fav thing and why we were blessed today. We do this every night I could of been negative as i have 2 kids that are homless, jobless and just doing terrible and i am so worried about them every day even when i am in church but no matter i can only pray for them while i live here in iowa and they are in calif i would love to do more but they are in their 30’s and i can’t do anymore without tearing my husband and i down. So prayers in church nightly and all day is all i can do. Crying has been coming much to easy since nothing has gone right for them and it hurts so bad but all i can think about before i go to bed is what i am thankful for and i am thankful today that i heard from one of them and they love me.
I am thankful for the Lord’s provision. My hubby lost his full-time job on July 1. Since then, the Lord has allowed him to have full-time hours at his part-time job AND has provided all our needs. Here we are in November with all of our bills up-to-date, food on our table, clothes on our back, gas in our cars, and the love of our family and church family!
There is no way to even begin to tell on here everything I am thankful for. So, I will just list a few. At the top of my list would be Jesus and the awesome price he paid for me. So thankful for his love and mercy and that is always there for me. Second, would be my family. My 5 kids are my my greatest blessings here in this life. The word “thanks” just seems so inadequate when compared to all that The Lord has done for me, but for lack of a better phrase, I am thankful for all The Lord has blessed me with.
I am thankful for my family. They love me despite all my faults, and I don’t know what I would do without them.
I am thankful for another day to be alive and for my family.
I am thankful for the love, mercy, and grace that our precious Lord gives me daily. I am so undeserving of His love.
I’m thankful for my entire family and for the new little puppy we just got. He’s aggravating with his eating of the shoes etc. but I couldn’t imagine my life without him.
I’m thankful for my kids and mom. We’ve been through a trying month after my brother passed away and prayers have helped.
I am thankful for our family and the safe travels we had today coming back from Ohio.
I am most thankful for my Husband, who has been my rock for the past 33+ years. I’m also happy for the 2 cats we rescued, along with a 3rd recently, who have given joy to our lives in so many ways, and grew up to be happy and healthy cats from the day they were born at my feet (literally). I’m also thankful for my wonderful Friends who I’ve had for more years than I care to admit, and I talk with as often as I can, even though we moved a few years ago from the area where they lived. I also am thankful for one Friend in particular who is like a Sister to me, and has been there through some rough times in my life, and helped me through them. I couldn’t have made it without her, and without God’s help as well, to give me the strength I needed to see me through, and give me direction. When you’re forced out of your house of over 13 years, and have to find a new place to live with no place to go, it’s a big world out there. God had his hand out the entire time, to guide us to where we are living now, and I’m finally at peace.
I am very thankful for the great news my husband received yesterday. He had a CT scan last week due to a chest x-ray that came back showing a thickness. Of course we feared the worse that was cancer. We prepare for the worse but prayed for the best. After waiting almost three weeks his results came back and it wasn’t cancer. He does have a cyst around his heart but this is manageable and the doctors will remove it if it becomes necessary. Thanks be to God.
I am so thankful for all the friends and family that I will be visiting during this time of year. I wish that the visits could come more often. It is a shame that we only see family during this time of year.
All year we should be thankful for all the blessing that God has given us. I know that for me, I am going to try and show the thankfulness that I feel at this time of year all year long. I hope that everyone will enjoy the season and find peace within themselves.
I’m thankful for God’s grace and mercy through salvationwith Jesus Christ as my Savior and soon coming King!, I’m also thankful for good health, God’s creation, being able to have the freedom to worship here in America, and day to day blessings from God–the air we breath, food on the table, a warm place to sleep and clothes to wear. God is so good and faithful I cannot give Him enough thanks and praise for His goodness to me. I’m thankful for family and friends, too.
Praising God and being thankful makes you feel better than sitting around complaining. Both my husband and I have had surgery and cancer diagnoses this year. Each step of the journey has made us realize that God has been with us each step of the way. Thanksgiving celebrations will be different for us this year, but we have so much to be thankful for. Praising God for his care….have a blessed Thanksgiving!
I am thankful for the love of my family and friends.
I have enjoyed all of Wanda Brunstetter’s books, but I have thoroughly enjoyed “The Gift” and am hoping that you will be writing a sequel to it. There are a few of the character’s where the plot leaves you hanging and I would love to hear what happens with them.
I am thankful for my large, loving family, home, ample food and the beauty that surrounds me.
